Nope... Duncan, don't do that... whack em on ebay and describe em as such (Van Nics) and make at least a week listing... I'd expect some (potentially) master frame builder to get in touch hopefully...

Moots himself contacted me when I had one of them... (actually, no, Moots contacted me for my Independent Fab). When I was selling a crappy Cervelo that had rear end crash damage, one of the famous-ish UK frame steel builders contacted me and ended up buying at a decent price (over £70 IIRC) as we was keen to start adding carbon to his resume and wanted to fiddle about with summat decent.

FWIW I dont think Cervelo is decent at all and nor is DeRosa for that matter (sorry for bringing crappy road bikes into the equation)...

Yup, fleabay but a few months apart :-bd let us know :smile:

Might be worth speaking to a titanium frame specialist and see if its worth getting your frame stress relieved? But the ding is near to the lowest stressed part of the tube and even if it does ever crack then it can be welded.

Get them repaired? Ti is very weldable, just a bit spendy as it needs plenty of care and cleanliness... Pretty sure a friend of mine had a ti frame fixed by Vernon Barker cycles. I've had repairs and alterations done to steel there and they were excellent.

Paul, I'm in Cataluña so difficult to find anyone locally, looks like VN are going to send me a new frame which seems considerably beefed up in the offending area.

Re: Will I die, yes Dave unfortunately/fortunately it’s inevitably. Personally I find the finite timeline scary and yet invigorating, it lends a sense of urgency to what otherwise could be a meandering existence. Will your frame butcherism be the full stop before the final paragraph? Unlikely, I work on 10%, ie if it reduces the chord of a 10cm truss to below 9cm it’s not going to get a cert, similar situation with deflection.
These are the limits we work with for equipment which will be suspending loads over a live audience, in the real world it would be fine ( as long as it’s not my name on the cert) with larger damage due to ( in our industry a 4:1 safety factor) .....id follow the advice above and put a sticker on it :-bd

Ps as a professional inspector of lifting equipment I’d advise against ownership of nice cutthroat carbon frames, pop it in post and I’ll put it beyond use in a safe manner, no charge.
