A question for BB300 riders.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

This is quite unusual ... those riding this years BB300 would you like to spend more time (a) north of the start or (b) south of the start?

I have two routes and can't decide which one I favour. Neither is any worse or better in the great scheme of things but I thought I'd see if there was any preference?

Please send them the opposite way the the 200 course PLEASE. There is nothing more fun than being overtaken by somebody going 100km's further than you.

Why not send em off the bb200 route at the 50km mark and then join em back up when theres 50km left to go...

That way (and I understand its against your belief system to do such a thing on the event) you fill the bb200s with hope that theres still riders in the vicinity when they're all but broken (still not sure if I've used that last phrase/term correctly which hopefully someone'll confirm :-bd )...

Alternately if one (the bb200s) doesn't see any of them, that could work too as it'd knock morale a little bit more*

Thus making it in line with standard protocol of kick em and kick em again

I did the BB200 in 2017 and the BB300 last year an think both of them were south of the start? So if that's the case I'd choose north for a change of scenery... not that I'll be able to see it through driving rain

North Stu, although as we haven't seen the route it's a gamble. Just thinking it's less boggy to the north (that isn't a challenge!)

Hmm, have you used one of your marine grid-refs around the 200km mark? Looks suspiciously flat for a few km

A bit late to this thread, but I am pleased the consensus has leaned north! I've definitely done less riding up that way, so it should be a nice change! ::gulp:: :???:

I make that 1600m less climbing than my garmin recorded last year so flat compared to that

I can't see the horizontal distance on my screen, is it closer to 300km than last year's with the bonus 20km downhill* to the finish?

*which seemed to have a uphill section

I think bikehike gets it to 303km - quite pleased with that but obviously we won't know just how far it is (a) until we get a full gps trace (b) ever because everyones gps will likely say something different
