Re: Usa
Very fond of many places in the USA, especially Colorado, but extremely unlikely to visit until the currency exchange rate returns to what I would consider a reasonable level!

Mike
I have a Zpacks Hexamid, had it for two years....
Very light... and a doddle to pitch.
The bathtub could do with being deeper (on the Plexamid it is a lot deeper).
And the storm doors are difficult to get right (I use tent pegs to peg them down).
The fastener for when you want to fold the doors back is a real PITA to use, and if you get it secured it’s a PITA to get undone. Just a bad design IMO.
But about 2 months back I noticed what looked like a hole developing... didn’t look good.
Took a load of pictures (I’ll post some on here later in a separate thread), and sent them to Zpacks.
The response was slow and a bit chaotic.
They offered some patches. I said I wanted assurance that it wasn’t the result of a ‘bad batch’ of the cuben fibre...
They’ve not concluded on that yet.
However I fancied the latest Plexamid, and suggested to them a trade in against one of those.
Nothing forthcoming yet, and the Plexamid is temporarily unavailable. I wonder why ?

Re: Usa
Timely as I was thinking of either a Plexamid or Deschutes .. could be an easier decision now

Dave, I'd give the SMD Gatewood cape some thought too. If you ignore the whole cape angle, it's still a great shelter and the hood produces a rather lovely vent right where it's of most use.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I did look at that but liked the fact the Deschutes plus had the bug band at the bottomBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:59 am Dave, I'd give the SMD Gatewood cape some thought too. But what about the bugs that live in the grass? They're trapped in with you

I looked at the zpaks stuff but just couldn’t justify the extra over the deschutes, I’ve been very happy with it.
Dave if you want to test drive the deschutes I’m in north Devon until the weekend, welcome to borrow it, you might have to leave the cutthroat as surety though
