Re: Bar end shifters
Any Shimano road bar-enders if it's for friction shifting - 8 or 9s should be cheap now?

Dia Compe? I've fitted these to Tri bikes and they seem solid.

Not as flash as Paul's but my Microshift's have lasted well and sustained plenty of rough treatment and drops!
Edit: Microshift, not Microsoft despite the autocorrect insistence!

Have had paul's in the past but now have these, which are much cheaper

I actually prefer them as the lever sits closer to the bar which I find easier. But yeah they are thumbshifters made from bar end shifters.

Mike I’m running a microshift barend on SRAM Eagle 12 speed, nice kit and a great dropbar solution
We’re all individuals, except me.

Here's my solution:BigdummySteve wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 6:48 pm Mike I’m running a microshift barend on SRAM Eagle 12 speed, nice kit and a great dropbar solution
Even assuming you spend an appropriate amount of time on the drop (as almost nobody does) you've still got to weigh up the proportion of time you spend on the flat bar / hoods vs the drops and (in my case for sure) that'll usually mean that it simply makes more sense to have a shifter where it usually is on an mtb as opposed to the brake lever or as an end cap.
But I'm aware that I'm fighting as losing battle on this one.....

Re: Bar end shifters
What are you hoping to gain by ditching the Ultegra? If I was speccing a new bike with bar-end shifters, Ultegra would be my first choice. If I couldn't get them then the older Dura-Ace (BS-77??) would be next (or maybe even first).
