Anyone have recommendations for sided pedals? One side SPD the other side flat.

Thanks

I've had both the Shimano options. One is shaped more like a flat pedal, like an rectangle with a rounded profile to the two outer corners. The other is more oval shaped. In fact I'd had two of these, one silver and one black

Oval shaped is a nicer pedal if you spend more time in SPDs, rectangular one is better if you'll use the flat side equally as much

I've done thousands of miles on mine and they're excellent low maintenance items, they get ridden through all winter

Funn Mamba. SPD with release force adjustment and suitable for cleat shoes with deep lugs.
The other side features a really good flat pedal. Really like them for some instances, where I want a bit of both worlds

I’ve got some Shimano one-sided spds (sod one side, rounded useless surface on the other) which I think are marketed as ‘touring’ pedals. Don’t buy them*, they have zero advantages over an ordinary spd, except they look a bit more ‘road’.

*I realise you weren’t about to.

Those are the ones I like!

Spd side is good and the flat side keys me ride in normal shoes of I have an errand to run at lunchtime or similar. But spd side is used 95% of the time. Dues to the weight balance they also stay the right way up when I stop so reattaching is a piece of cake

I've got a couple of pairs of these:

https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-a530-s ... ng-pedals/

I could be persuaded to sell a pair if you want :-) I find them pretty good. The set that is in use is on my do anything, go anywhere semi fat 27.5/29er+ singlespeed rigid. Which doubles as the pub bike, hence the flat side!

Drop me a message if you want them.

Love Mud Jeckels. So good I bought another pair. You can remove the studs on the no spd side as well if you like skin on your shins.

I can’t believe we’re talking about the same thing ben
Mine are like this - https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-pd-es600-spd-pedals/

Designed to be single-sided (for no good reason I can fathom.

You are indeed correct, we're talking about different things!

I've just the A530 and M324 pedals from Shimano. The latter was on a bike that got nicked. the former is on my commuter and has survived thousands of miles and is ridden in all conditions. They've been great considering how cheap they are. Latter are better for riding on the flat pedal bit though, A530 can be a bit slippy

Alpkit love mud Jeckles are my choice if I need to have both options.
Seem well made and the usual Alpkit sensible pricing.

Could be interested. How much wear / miles have they seen ? Thanks
