Flying from Heathrow with bike, parking options /opinions

Post by Asposium »

Late August am flying from Heathrow with my bike
Bike will be in a standard cardboard bike box (i.e. no wheels)
Not an option to walk a distance with the bike
Was thinking meet and greet, though off-site parking with a transfer might be an option (assuming can get the bike box on the bus)
Has anyone else done something similar?
What did you do car parking wise?

Do the meet and greet, it's usually cheaper than parking on site anyway.

...and yeah, done it many times.

We parked at our friend's place in Sutton and took the absurdly cheap x26 bus to Heathrow. I think it was £1.50 for an adult and a child. They weren't thrilled about our bikes as they were blocking the wheelchair bit, but I said I would move them straight away if anyone needed the space, which they didn't. On the way back the driver was not going to let us on til I managed to get the bikes up onto the luggage rack (which is pretty big). If I hadn't managed to do that and someone in a wheelchair had got on the driver said he would have to throw us off the bus. I assume he would have stopped it first though.

Use meet and greet.

Trying to get a bike box on a bus is a lottery with grumpy bus drivers

For short stay, yes, but you might have to go and fetch one

Meet and greet is an excellent service, I would definitely go for that. Less hassle and often cheaper
