Maybe we need new stickers - "I pay for all my own kit"
'Bikepacking Superstar' stickers are next on the list
I’d like to see ‘self-declared bikepacking legend’ stickers please.

A "I hate stickers" sticker, just to sow confusion?

Back on topic - there seems to be no discussion of this Stateside. Not seen anything on MTBR, site and forums, or bikepacking.net forums. Nothing on bikepacking.com either. No idea if there's anything being said on FB.

Perhaps people are (a) scared of litigation (b) not wanting to nail their flag to a particular mast just yet or (c) waiting to see what JP comes back with?

Plenty in the various comments underneath articles. About 50/50 I'll buy a new salsa Vs I'll never buy a salsa it seems.

JP is more than likely under some kind of contract from Salsa / QBP not to make any comment on this. Also dont know when the termination takes effect from.

The cynic in me says Salsa / QBP threw him under the bus as they thought it better PR / Marketing and more bike sales to take the moral high ground on this one. Never met the guy so cant comment on his character.

for sure they did it all for commercial rather than morals reasons- this is basically what capitlaism gives us so is it really worth stating companies make all decisions based on money ?

it seems unlikely they just discovered during this event about his "colourful" interpretation of the rules and spirit of events

Just been looking at the entry list for this year's Silk Road and both Jay Petervary and Lael Wilcox are on it. Given the sacking, I wonder whether he'll turn up and if there'll be cameras?

Very definately. Look at the way it was covered last year.

I was thinking along the lines of independant filming focussed on a supported rider for the purposes of brand marketing rather than the organiser promoting the event. Rather more difficult location and terrain methinks.

I listened to the first of this year's podcasts and Nelson Trees was saying there will be video updates during the race this time, instead of just a film made afterwards.

Yeah, I thought you were, but was too inclined by your unspecific question to give an unspecific answer

I'm sure some 'self declared bikepacking legends' will be all over the bikepacking media.

Then, after a few years of trying to squeeze as much fame out of they're actions, they resolve to a pseudo subversive style of propagation, which for the reader will result in exactly the same, yet with loss of credibility as it gets a bit hypocritical.
Look at what Mr. Humphreys is up to. Such a good example of this behaviour.

I find it pleasantly amusing :-bd
So, who's next?
