Tony, have a look on ultralightoutdoorgear https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk ... -tents-c89 We've the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 man tent but the 3 man might be more suitable for you. It's slightly bigger than the Jaran 3 and a bit lighter but quite a bit more expensive.

Have you considered a pyramid design Tony. Affords much more headroom to someone of your stature.

Big fan of the Shangri La 3 copies and other mid shaped tents for big trips in foul weather. Can be found in a few places with very similar designs.

Also like Locus Gear stuff very much. Have a Khufu (may be a bit small for two) and it's seeing very heavy use. It's 7 years old and has more than an equivalent of a full years of use and has sofar only needed a new zip (easily done self) and reproofing (easily again). They also make them bigger: called Khafra. I was able to test two other Locus Tents last summer and the craftmanship, details, technology (especially fabrics) is mind blowing.

Disclaimer: the boss/owner/head of Locus Gear is a friend - I might be biased, but got the Khufu before I got to know him.
More Shangri La 3 copies....

thanks for all the ideas fellas.
some good stuff, although I have never fancied a pyramid type tent.
I want something with a sown in groundsheet and that is quite robust.

Tony, what about a Trekkertent Drift? http://www.trekkertent.com/home/home/2-drift.html

As you're tall, your options are very limited compared with many
Tarptent is good for that. My Scarp 1 has loads of room and i'm 6'3
I'm sure there are others like that though! (XL size wild country tents might work too)

You can get an inner with sewn-in groundsheet for many pyramids Tony. I always think they offer a great deal of room for the weight.
