Magnetic usb charging lead

There was a thread on here a while back about a magnetic USB charging leads and I've just bought one to try and improve my on the fly Garmin charging. The big plus for me is that it's a two part lead - there's a tiny bit that slots into the charging socket on the Garmin and this then has a really strong magnetic connector on the reverse that interfaces with a connector on the rest of the lead. This means you can leave the small connector plugged in while you attach the Garmin to the bike, and then attach the magnetic lead - it's a lot easier (and less likely to bugger your charging port) than trying to twist the Garmin on with a conventional lead already attached, or trying to plug a conventional lead in once the Garmin is mounted.

Anyway, hope that makes sense! I've got a long, bumpy ride planned for later in the week, so I'll report back after.

Recently had this very problem with a Garmin 520+

This looks like an excellent solution - take my money now!

In the interests of tidiness, has anyone found one of these with a shorter length, say 300mm?

If your usb connector needs replacing, I found a pretty reasonable guy on ebay - 25 including return post. Most others are closer to 50 and garmin wanted 90!

These German ones go down to 20 or 50cm, you can get the ends separately aw well. I ordered one to have a look at, I’ll let you know if they are any good.

[i!®] 1 m Premium Nylon Magnet Charging/Data Cable Magnetic Magnet Connector https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0776YWNY8/ ... kDb03CHVGB

Another source of magnetic connectors is rosenberger, an industrial cable supplier, look beefy and very high quality, prices reflect this however at around £30 a lead.

I’ve just thought of an additional bonus of these cables, if I equipped all my kit with these the family won’t ‘borrow’ them :-bd
