How easy is gaffer tape to remove from a frame? Will alcohol clear off the residue ?
Thinking of a quick and dirty method to protect the head tube from bag rub.

Most 'substances' will shift the glue - meths, white spirit, lighter fluid. However, gaffa tape isn't very hardwearing and will rub through quite quickly. I found clear gorilla tape better although it will yellow / discolour after a while.

I bought a shed load of helicopter tape years ago and it has never worn through for me, just come unstuck after several years in one or two awkward places on the frame.

I used Gaffa tape to protect my Singular Buzzard as a quick reversible solution for a one-off trip. It did a great job till I took it off ... along with half the frame decals

I wouldn't use duct tape, the residue will be a nightmare to clear. If you are just doing it for a temporary measure electrical tape lasts ok and peels off just fine.

bought from ebay - though it was local so i went and looked at different types thickness etc
Got a 2m striip at 50 mm wide I think and must have most of it left still.

Re: Tape protection
We use low tack gaffer tape on theatre stuff, comes off clean, if you want clear stuff dance floor tape is cheap and very tough.
