Daftest thing you’ve ever carried...?
Taking inspiration from bikepacking.com and they’re post on daftest thing riders have carried (think bow+arrows*, complete works of Hemingway...!), what the daftest/most useless thing you’ve taken on a ride?
Me? I’ve carried books with me to bothies to read and my first trip out about 10-12 years ago saw me carried enough water for a 2 day ride
*Stu however may take inspiration from this

Not on a long ride, but I've frequently carried a kid's bike on the handlebars or strapped to my backpack.

My friends would say the daftest thing I carry is a bivi bag. They keep taking about something called 'Hotels' whatever they are?
The strangest thing I've carried is a humane mousetrap, complete with mouse. This wasn't a bikepacking trip though, just on my comutte, so he'd be released miles from my house to deter him from coming back. Hopefully to live a long and happy life in the countryside, but probably eaten by an owl that night.

I Carried a car battery in my rucksack across manchester as a student when I needed a new battery. Most recently a 3m length of plastic conduit and a car wishbone on the way home from work.

Far too much clothing was my first mistake, now somewhat rectified.
Recently I carried a dozen fire logs and 8 beers in a rucksack into a bothy. My back hurt for days afterwards.

1) 20 kilos of coal on my back 10 miles to a bothy. Made for interesting bike handling.
2) Carried out from a bothy, dangling on a bar end one of those Sainsbury's bags for life, you know the big one with the elephant on it, full to the top of crushed beer cans and no they weren't mine. Got some odd looks from the few walkers I passed.
3) My ukulele but I don't think that's daft at all.

If we're straying into work bike territory here then I've towed (Bikes At Work trailer) a Welsh dresser, arm chair, 20 paving slabs, 15foot skirting boards and enough wool loft insulation for an entire house. Not all simultaneously you understand.
