There are some good deals around on those and I'm mightily tempted. Is it a press fit BB Colin?

It is, but my record with them (so far) has been pretty good. I had to change one out on the Orbea after it had been sitting all winter. That was two years old. The one on my Cube road bike is now 10 years old

I got almost £1,000 off RRP on that bike. In fact the components are worth more than I paid for the whole thing.

Likewise the ICT and its been fine, its just a PIA to hammer out and hammer a new one in. Hmm will wait for end of season and maybe see what deals are kicking around as I do like the look of hyroformed ally framed fat bikes.....

A bit of a mish-mash:

Replaced front brake pads on Spearfish and lubed the pistons (following Hope's procedure).
Fitted Cath's Moto bars to her Cotic Soul.
Replaced rear tyre on road bike after three, yes three, snakebite punctures at the weekend on just one ride

The old one had got a bit "thin"

Dragged Kramp out of back of garage, washed it, kicked tyres then pumped them up. Tightened chain.

Almost finished it!

Need to wrap the bars once I'm done testing out lever positions and bar angles.

It gets better with every ride

Fitted a Gorilla Cage and an Ortlieb Saddle bag to the Occam. Topped up the Stans Sealant too as the rear was very soft.

Now out on a bivvy night.

Thanks gents. It's an itch I've been meaning to scratch for ages.

The frame is a Rapide RL3 gravel bike with a fairly long wheel base. It's definitely not one for flicking/throwing about, although it is very light. Charlie sold me some planet-x Gipiemme wheels, Adam the 19T rear sprocket and the rest has been put together with bits collected over the last couple of years. Tips just under 10kg as it stands

Trashed the carbon rim on my new back wheel. Carbonal XC rim - very thin........ 2 big dings and 1 little ding from a fast rocky descent. Didn't think it was that bad a descent though! 29km total riding on that wheel. A tube fitted and it lasted another 80km. Will be going back to the builder I think.

Fitted the shortest stem I've got after reading on here that Jones loops should be set up that way. Looks odd but felt ok on a very brief test ride. Looking forward to a proper test.

Gave it a gentle pat on the way into the house after 9 days in Devon with the family. I could have left it there when I was riding last week but took the unusual decision to leave it at home. I have to admit sitting on the beach with Devon’s hills in the background was torture, Next weekend is mine!

Spot the difference?

Old tatty green frame had a cracked chainstay. Spotted the Grey one on pinkbike. It came from France and is in mint condition. Struggle to tell its not new. Swapping frames took less than an hour. I use this for local trips and bimbling around.
Old frame was quickly sold to a guy who has access to a framebuilder who can repair it and dropped off at the post office

Cost of swap; £80, so a good result

I searched for the annoying squeak on the Arkose. I reseated the rear wheel, greased the rear qr, swapped out pedals and checked the brake pads all to no avail. After much staring to make sure everything was true and careful listening I thought I’d try greasing what looks like a rubber washer on the rear hub and lo and behold, the squeak went away. I’ve no clue if that was the right thing to do but it worked!
Since the bike was on the stand I thought i’d flip the stem up to raise the drops - if my trigonometry is correct they’ve been raised almost 2cm. A quick spin to the end of the road felt less stretched out but need to test off road soon.
The next job is to work out why my rear tyre refuses to hold air for very long

Not me, but the guy who has been servicing my bikes for years. Had only the second service on my road bike in seven years. New cassette, chain, brakes, bottom bracket and rear tyre.

Unsurprisingly it feels amazing. Mustn't leave it so long next time

Washwd my PHD sleeping bag which I've been trying to avoid as I worry about the clumping of the down...

Then took it to the laundrette to dry it up. Seemed nice and fluffy at the laudrette inside the dryer and I thought I'd smashed it* but after getting hope noticed its still a little clumpy with the down.

Happy to accept advice if antone has any... Last time I washed a down jacket was a Chippie years and years ago (which got nicked inside locker room of B and Q back in 2006 or close to that... so thanksfully I didnt need to do the dreaded task again) when I was without as much white hairs. It was clumpy for a while but slowly sorted itself out from me unclumping by hand every day whilst it was on (or off.. I forget)...

You probably know the "tennis ball trick" do you? Put item in tumble dryer with four or five tennis balls, as it goes round the tennis balls pummel the item and help to break any down clumps up. It does work, I've done it with my Rab down jacket when I've washed it and it's not clumpy.

... yup. Knew the tennis ball trick but first time trying it. Found 2 tennis ball with one little super bouncy ball (i forget the name)...

used em in washing machine but in the rush to get to laundrette for drying duties (35 mins before closing and didn't want to wait for tomorrow for fear of the stale smell) i forgot em

.. went for planB to grab some from the superstore nearby whilst dryer was running but £6 put me off!

Oh well, shall have to go get it done again with the balls early in the week

Sold it

I did strip it down and service it before passing it on to it’s next rider. The bike was nothing special to anyone else (Genesis Core 20 with 26” wheels) but owned it from new and had various adventures along the way

After a front wheel blow out on tubed WTBs in Gwydyr chucked me on the floor, I’ve set up the Whyte tubeless yesterday with NNs and Stans. Front went up first time with some added pressure to seat the beads. Three goes to get the rear seated but both seemed fine with no leaks. Just the rim tape that was on the Whyte wheels.
Successful first ride and much better grip. Playing around with pressures now but about mid 20s on the track pump. Will put the digital gauge on there.... little bit more pressure in the rear possibly?
Pair of WTB 27.5 tyres anyone?
