Hot and Bothied

Post by whitestone »

A film on bikepacking.com - http://www.bikepacking.com/plog/hot-and-bothied-film/ up in them there Highlands. It's gravel Jim, but not as they know it  Made by the same people who did the Beulah film a couple of years ago of biking out to Cape Wrath.

Cheers - I liked that. Not mad keen on lots of drone footage but that following/tracking shots at 02.00 and about 19.00 really give a sense of space in the big wide glens. Nice to watch something without bangin' tunes too :-bd

I watched this this afternoon. Lovely scenery, cracking looking route.

I found the chap called Luke a bit of a whiner...

Far too many bits and pieces dangling off their bikes too. All that banging and clanking around would drive me mad.

Bottom line is though that they were out riding. Which is what it is all about.

From the accompanying article it seems like it was their first bikepacking trip so just used what kit they had rather than any more specialist lightweight, low bulk items. One took a 3 season sleeping bag for example, presumably this was last summer so somewhat OTT. They'd also the filming kit, including drone. Always interesting to see what non-bikepackers think of riding "in the wilds", the heat won't have helped but the comment "this is the hardest thing I've ever done" did amuse me when basically they'd ridden along an estate track with a couple of km hike-a-bike to the bothy and back.

Confused me slightly why they used Glenbuck bothy when there's the Blackburn of Corrieyairack bothy which was on their route.
