Latest Spot Renewal Prices
Whats the going great people have haggled their renewal price down to?
I'm thinking it's cheaper ti hire one the few times a year I need it rather than renewing at their advertised prices. Either that or sell them and buy and in reach on the occasional plan.
Has anybody got a really good deal form spot?

In short, cancel it and they'll return with a better offer (like al companies these days, just give the offer to loyal customers first time around )

It is very tempting, as the mini looks a better bet than the spotx.redefined_cycles wrote:Maybe its time to get an InReach??

I got €65 off.

€50 discount

The Garmin InReach Mini might be the way to go.dlovett wrote:It is very tempting, as the mini looks a better bet than the spotx.redefined_cycles wrote:Maybe its time to get an InReach??
I've done some research on the various options after 7 or 8 years with SPOT and found the Mini to be the best solution for many reasons, which obviously differ from one user to another.
Worth checking https://www.protegear.de for data/tracking packages.
Re: Latest Spot Renewal Prices
A solution that worked for me. Take out subscription on a non essential card for as long as you need it, then deactivate the card.
Had no problems reactivating the spot at a later date.
In future though I'd hire one if I couldn't find a loaner.

Re: Latest Spot Renewal Prices
^^ prices are in £ (for the garmin) and € (for the Spot).
Out of interest... would the basic Garmim/inreach package at 14.99 per month (pay as you go) do the job for say a Trackleaders Dales Divide attempt... or is it alot more complex than that even

Re: Latest Spot Renewal Prices
I have an inReach, and move up and down package depending on what I need.
Currently suspended.
The basic subscription contains no free tracking points, and tracking points cost 10pence/point
Tracking Interval can be as long as one wishes.
When I use the lowest subscription (fairly often when I want the sos feature) a work around to get “free” tracking points is to manually send a blank preset message. inReach uses message as tracking points.
inReach mini will connect with the Fenix 5 or 66s(t)
Can also use the Earthmate app to type messages ....this feature is quite cool.
Unlike SPOT there is message sent confirmation
When under cover with limited view of the sky the inReach Explorer+ (one I have) will queue tracking points until a clear view is obtained, then get beep, beep, beep, beep as the sent confirmation
No downside I have found
Will be interested to see a (possible) future high-end device. Believe it is likely, Garmin does seem to tier its devices.
