Your chance for fame but probably not fortune.
I've being talking to a chap called David Burr who produces programmes for C4. They're hoping to produce a series of documentaries about sub-groups that exist within the broarder spectrum of outdoor / leisure pursuits and they think 'Boners' would perhaps make for an interesting programme ... apparently, we're like a sub-group within a niche.
Anyway, they require about ten riders to make up the core of the programme but before you go rushing to put your hand up, here's the deal.
You'll be required for two days of filming either in Wales or Scotland. Expenses will be paid.
Dates TBC but it'll likely be the first week of July.
Ideally they'd like people with some 'character' ... It would seem that a degree oddness makes for a much better programme given the subject matter (I said it wouldn't be a problem)
You must be willing to have the cameras round to your house should you be selected - fly on the wall type stuff.
If you think you can behave 100% naturally when having a camera poked in your face and fancy becoming a minor celeb for a while (programme will be 40 mins) and the Boners one will be one of five, then email me and I'll put you on the list.

If it was local to me then I might be interested but I'm likely too boring.

I think there would be to many bleeps have to be inserted with my normal mantra of what the feck another feckin hill and where's the feckin pub and my general liking of electric fences ,plus if they had cameras in the house they would need subtitles with our accents,it would be too much like father jacks day out and the house like father Ted's presbytery
Shame they couldn't cover rtts it would certainly provide entertainment value

Would need to speak to the family if they were putting cameras in the house mate as I hate to think what the teenage son gets upto or what the daughter does when she's home ,I'll let you knowBearbonesnorm wrote:Could be just what they're after Stu

I bet they would love to watch me making my own meals and using the dehyrdater to dry them out ready for the "trail adventure" * make them just add water..... it would make trully rivetting tva degree oddness
Cut from pan, to heater, to dry powder to delicous ** trail side food in under 3 minutes[ does nto include bioliing time]
* I will use this phrase throughout to describe anytime my wheel meets mud.
** its tv no one can smell it or taste it they wont know

Sigh! I knew that was coming at some point, dunno why ;-) Doubt they'd find a camera robust enough. "odd" - er, that's ALL of us isn't it surely?!

I was going to say that but I refrained, however seeing you as propose it I shall second it!ianfitz wrote:I vote Reg
I also vote for Scott, I'm sure he'd be happy to take an expenses-paid trip back to the UK...

Other than reg, define oddness.
Are they wanting to scare people or just think "oh, he's a bit quirky"?
I might be interested if they don't mind the tourettes.

Thanks for the interest everyone. I've passed details onto David, who has in turn passed them onto his manager Joe Kerr.

I'll put my hands up ,even tried to clear it with the wife , but I do believe father jacks day out would make good viewing

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Sam Walsh would make a great "subject" for the show.
I'd put my name in the hat if I wasn't so boring.

Hey John
What about Tony ? He’d only agree if the price were right, and he is definitely a character (hope he’s not reading this...) a true Wiganer... a few of them around
And he could do his very impressive one handed hundred yard wheelie on his fat bike (would definitely make good television if he was eating a pie at the same time)

Tony won't even be in photos let alone be on film.
