An interesting concept - https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/the-desert-racing-triobag chuffin' expensive though. I can't remember ever seeing anything similar.

I can't remember ever seeing anything similar.
I suppose laying your unzipped jacket over you inside your sleeping bag is similar, at least the principle.

Much as I like PHD gear I think they somewhat limit themselves with sticking to bags, a quilt would give close to that temperature range.

I checked the Cumulus 250, rated to 0C, slightly lighter and a third of the price :-bd

They do indeed but they are more something you'd throw on your bed than pack for the outdoors.

I knew I'd seen the idea used before but only remembered where this morning ... the ME Spell Binder bags. They have an internal 'quilt' that can be placed beneath or on top of the slepper or removed completely.

Shows that there's nothing new under the sun.

I bet thinking about that kept you awake all night :lol:

On my first trip to the Alps in the early 1980s my mate had a two layer sleeping bag: down inner, synthetic outer, that we split between us to save weight when on routes - he took the inner as he was smaller than me. Can't remember the manufacturer now.
