CX frame swap
Im looking at swapping out my cx bike frame ( planet x xls) and putting the bits onto a more relaxed drop bar frame . Thinking of the sonder camino al as a cheapish alternative ( don't want to spend loads) . Any ideas on other similar frames welcome.

Very impressed with my shark CX bike - bought as a frame, forks and wheels for £260ish on eBay... Noticeably slacker than average and surprisingly comfy to ride. Speedy too - very close to KOMs on my commute to work without being totally flat out up the hills.

I use my cx as commuter also but want something witch has luggage points to use more often and for multi day rides which have planned this year.PaulE wrote:Very impressed with my shark CX bike - bought as a frame, forks and wheels for £260ish on eBay... Pretty sure it's got rack mounts - certainly works fine with frame bag, bar bag and seat pack

Arkose LTD frame would probably get my money.

Apparently the Arkose LTD only has routing for Di2, not regular cables, which rather puts it out of the budget frame swap picture.

Re: CX frame swap
I was surprised, but it's mentioned in the Q&A section:

I suppose one could always run full length outers, and zip tie the cables on.

Re: CX frame swap
I've just handed back a Camino AL after a long term loan. I did a couple of 200k audaxes on it, as well as shorter off road rides. It was a great bit of kit and comfy with 37c Riddlers at 30psi off road and 50psi on it. No slower on an Audax over all than my Arkose on 28c slicks.

Re: CX frame swap
How much slower than a 28c slicks Arkose please Johnny Storm... would it make a good road bike then for 200 milers with minimal offroad/gravelling needed. With 35c or 37c slicks as opposed to knobblies obviously.

Yep noticed that also. I think I've narrowed it down to both sonder camino al and the santiago as both can switch wheels out from 700 + 650 giving more playing options, and longer distance riding...Landslide wrote:Apparently the Arkose LTD only has routing for Di2, not regular cables, which rather puts it out of the budget frame swap picture.
Cheers guys
