anyone got a new fargo?

Post by ton »

was in a bike shop yesterday sorting the wife a new tourer. we did that.
i then spotted a new all black salsa fargo. bloody lovely.

i am still trying to get to having just one bike. and for the little bit of offroad i do, i reckon it would be fine.
so thinking of selling my ecr and my tourer and buying one.

anyone got one of the new ones with the carbon forks?

thoughts please.

2015 version here.
Assuming its a frame and not a complete bike the new Fargo is boost front and rear so existing running gear/wheels wont fit.
You will have to buy new. :|
On the other hand I would work round that for the ti frame :-bd but then the Tripster ATR would then come into play. :???:
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

If I was going to have one bike for everything it'd be my Jones with a couple of different wheel sets. Not the new Jones Plus (although the SWB might do), I'd keep my old Jones 29er diamond. Wifey has just picked up a second hand Jones Spaceframe with a 3 inch tyre in the front, that's a nice ride too.

Sounds like a plan to justify a new bike

We all know the right number of bikes is n+1.

Why are the chain stays so long on the Fargo? Is that a typical thing for touring bikes and road bikes?

I was very lucky to get one for my birthday - an absolutely gorgeous bike that could be a perfect alrounder.

For me I will be keeping my stooge for the rockier stuff - and for mucky days atm as the fargo is way to pretty to get dirty yet!

I changed from an ecr to a Fargo and don’t regret it one bit, VERY capable off-road,it’s a mountain bike built for drop bars after all. Mine is set up with the drops at seat level so very comfortable, I think it would make a passable tourer with the right wheels althoug you might need the 2x11 set up to get the gear range , the Fargo might be a little more off-road biased than you want, if you anywhere near north Oxfordshire your welcome to have a go on my medium sized Fargo.
We’re all individuals, except me.

I woke up this morning but I’m still in the dark

More helpfully, I've got a Large Fargo that I've done about 25,000 km on, albeit mostly commuting. Time for me to treat it to a refurb and start using it for "proper" rides.
