Grey or green tent?

Post by Escape Goat »

So it looks like I got super excited on eBay when I seen a lunar solo posted in green. I offered him numbers and he accepted them. The picture was green, the description was grey. I think I've bought a grey tent, what colours are people using? I just thought green would blend in better...

I have green. I like green.

2 mates have grey. It's fine. Not too bright and blends in pretty well.

I have had both and they blended in equally well. The green one is dark green though - not lime or anything silly.

Grey is good. Won't stand out and isn't military looking. Not a problem here but if you ever take it abroad it's not a great idea to look too military is some countries.

Never thought of that. Thank you all for your input. I do like green as a colour but it's good to hear the grey isn't bad. Kinda stuck with it now. I'm hoping to try out a bivvy bag on a couple of outings too on dry nights. Would love to fall asleep under the stars.

I’ve a gray one (didn’t want to be ‘twins’ with scotroutes while out on a bivvy  ). Happy with mine. Not too obtrusive as stated.

One of the reasons I got the Lunar Solo is that you can roll the flap(s) back and sleep ‘under the stars’ well almost. You only really have to close them if it’s raining...

Bivvy bags are great too... :-bd

Aren't the grey ones heavier?

Great stuff, I did have my head poking out of one when I borrowed one from John last year, it was pretty nice!

I'm not too sure, both claim they're 680 without pegs....

Just ordered some nice carbon poles from the shop section on here - can't wait!

I think the older LE model was always grey - that had the heavier groundsheet than the green version.

The LE (the version I have) was heavier (800-odd g iirc).

The LE has heavier ‘fly’ and ground sheet. One of the reasons I bought it was I figured it would be more durable than the green one...

Definitely packs bigger than green (as compared to scotroutes one).

The fabrics were changed in 2018 anyway. Could be they are all the same weight now.

I've got the new one in green. It's actually quite a light green so it might not have been what you were looking for anyway. Looks good but think I'd have been happy with either.

Good to know, thank you :) looking forward to getting out again, it's only been a few weeks since I was last out, but I can't wait to go again. :-bd
