29er plus rims for bike packing
So not wanting to disrupt the carbon specific thread.
What are the go to 29er plus rims people recommend (whatever material)?
This would most likely be to fit to a Ti fat bike.

I had Stans Hugo and they went up tubeless and were no fuss at all.

Couple of pairs of WTB Scrapers here in both 45mm and 40mm ... I like 'em.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Velocity Duallys have been rock solid for me. Keep Pedalling do them
Re: 29er plus rims for bike packing
Hi
I have Stan's Hugo with chronicles 3.0
This combo is great for rocky or rutted dry conditions.
I also run Stan's Arch with Schwalbe Nobby Nics 2.6
I like the rounded profile this creates. A good all conditions tyre.
Dont go too wide unless you are riding in properly bumpy terrain.

Re: 29er plus rims for bike packing
WTB scrapers here, bomb proof. Just watch the spoke tension when building them as I had one crack around every spoke hole due to being a bit enthusiastic with the spoke key. Duallys good but no lip to hold tyre bead (not that it caused me any tubeless bother mind you)
Got a pair of Easton Arc 45's to go on next - lightest ally rim and supposed to be good too. Rabbit holes are very strong and can be had cheap but not technically tubeless ready (split tube works though)

My Solaris has Hope Hoops. At a guess anything (of quality) will do so long as they are round, not even Dave Brailsford's "really round".

Re: 29er plus rims for bike packing
Cheers all.
I'd heard good things about the scrspers. Less so for the Stans.
Looks like scrspers are good for tubeless too.
As much as I like the idea of carbon I think it'll be them, eastons or Stans. Off to price some up.

I've had rabbit holes very stiff looked cool as, to me anyway lol
Also had arc45 still have a rear seems decent but a bit soft in rocks
Also have 650b scraper 45 easy to tubeless and just works

Hugo's here and very happy with them.
Ridden everywhere and everything on them over the last 3.5 years and (with the exception of one tiny ding that hasn't affected performance) they're still going strong.
I'm hefty, ride in the Alps and don't take things easy on the downhills so no complaints here.

Re: 29er plus rims for bike packing
On a related note Maxxis have stopped 29+ Chronicles and rumour has it that the minions will only be available in 29x2.6". I was further alarmed to note that Bontrager has stopped the Chupacabra which has been my go to for the last 3 years but instead they are doing a 29x3 XR2 and XR4 (also available in a DH casing). So good for Trek/Bonty but Maxxis - wtf?? plenty of people were buying them so dunno why they can't match supply to demand, given that they will have the tooling.....
Must get some more minions whilst stocks last!

I have a Dually and a Halo Vapour 50. Both are very good.
Just put a Duro Crux 3.25 on the Dually on the front of my Stooge and I’m looking forward to giving it some in the slop. It looks a proper beast.

That is indeed bad news, chronicles and chucas were the two go to tyres.

Oh yeah I had duallys too I like them because I could run 2.4 tyres and 3.0 tyres and the profile was still good , strong as hell too

Another thumbs up for halo vapours (I used the 35’s) on a set of b+ wheels, really strong and light, tubeless was a doddle too.
Considering building a 29+ set soon
