Totally but I also assign plenty of blame to myself.

I know what to do and what not to do, I'm a grown up and creator of my own destiny etc...

There's no excuse (other than financial) for the way the food industry operates and I think for the most part we're all well and truly hoodwinked by the time we're able to make our own decisions but.....patterns can be broken, the information is out there for anyone interested enough to seek it and so I don't let myself off the hook just because I got shafted early on.

Right, I'm off for a little pre-work run, laters.....

04/01/19 - 70.0kg
11/01/19 - 69.0kg (-1.0kg)
18/01/19 - 68.5kg (-0.5kg)

That was an awful week for me. Virtually no exercise, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was muscle loss rather than fat. Need to get life back on track.

04/01 69.5 (153.2)
11/01 68.8 (151.7)
01/01 70.1 (154.5)

Sigh, back to the beginning again. No exercise, too many snacks grabbed for convenience and way too many very long days.

Not a 'failure' but surely we're free to make our own choices about what we eat and how much ... no one's force feeding people junk but choosing not to eat it, does require a degree of input / effort.

11.01.19 - 99.0kg
18.01.19 .................. drum roll ....................... 97.9kg :YMPARTY: :YMPARTY:

Jumped on the scales this morning and nearly fell off them. 2kg in a week is a lot but Ive not ben silly. Had a high intensity weekend, including a bivvi night, a coaching session, been walking the dog more vigorously than usual and bought plain Digestives to have with me tea in the evening. They are dry and awful so I dont want more than two of them. On top of that, low fat salads for lunch and pretty much no bread other than a couple of bagels and Bob seems to be your Dad's sibling. Yah. Me.

Agreed, but can't help feel that it's not all my fault and that the system makes it harder than it needs to be. Check Nuffield Council public health ethics, section on obesity. Not a quick read!

Totally agree we have control over what we eat, but also totally agree that the food industry and health advice does pretty much all it can to make it hard.

We're told we need snacks, to eat very regularly, the bulk of stuff in any shop or supper market is highly refined and processed. If you're not organised getting lunch at work that isn't refined grains and sugar is a challenge.

I was in hospital and it was carbs and sugar, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, read, snack. Snack trolley. Schools have snack breaks and kids are expected to take one in.

Listened to a podcast the other day on the growth of the grain and snack food industry. Its been promoted and pushed by governments, health boards and agencies, often by people with a vested interest and growingly a vegan interest, look at kellogs and seventh day Adventist based big food companies.

I'm sure a lot of grew up when snacks didn't exist and you had a good enough breakfast, dinner and tea to be fine and we were all much more active too.

Puddings, sweets or crisps were treats, not part of the holy Trinity of sarnie, crisps and choccy bar that is most colleagues lunch (maybe a fizzy drink too). Not to mention the cakes and crap that are brought into the office for birthdays etc.

Right, off for a cuppa

Odd, I've never really been encouraged to eat snacks. I guess maybe I was brought up at a different period / had different influences?

I mean I did... but mostly because I'm sh*t.

You've obviously missed all the adverts and small regular meals stuff on TV , articles etc and the whole isles in super markets of snacks, breakfast bars, cereal bars, healthy whatever bars, power bars, fruit bars, rice cakes, biscuits, fruit leathers, snack things for kids in little boxes, crisps and 'healthy' crisps type things , nuts, graze boxes etc etc..

One full isle equivalent of fruits and veg here, maybe half isle of raw meat, half isle of cheese and cold meats etc. And about 6 isles of booze, drinks, tinned stuff, ready meals, frozen meals and foods, cereals, biscuits, sweets, crisps, breads and cakes, ready stuff for lunches etc.

Yeh, you can ignore it but its definitely in your face and if you're travelling lots every garage & seviice station is full of it too.

Any hoo..... Keep strong fellow BBers :-bd

Right, we've got about 2/3rds of folks weigh-ins for this week.

Don't sweat it of you miss a Friday, just post it when you get a chance.

Keep up the good work and I'll try and do a little months end graph after next weeks numbers are collected and collated.

I've got literally zero idea what this week's weigh-in will reveal.

I've also been flat out at work putting in 10, 11, 12 hour days to get a project finished.

So.....super stressful, some cutting corners on energy sources (but not bad compared to my 'old ways') and no biking at all.

But.....it does mean that I've been on my feet hoiking building materials around all day every day, had no time/energy to go to the pub and even though I've only ridden my bike once this year so far I have been getting out at least twice a week to run before work.

This morning's run was 6km at -15°c - twas fresh I tell thee!

11-01-2019 - 113.9kg
18-01-2019 - 113.7kg
25-01-2019 - 114kg

Boo!

A week of a full-on bastard work schedule and so just grabbing whatever was convenient for lunch and a few cheeky beers on a couple of evenings.

But the project is finished now so I can finally exercise a bit more and have a bit of time to plan/organise my self to be better.

So....?
