Crimbo presents

Post by BigdummySteve »

Having spent most of my unexpected tax rebate on additional gifts for the family it occurred to me that ‘hey I’m special too’ additionally I know exactly the right gift to bring a smile to my face, to that end I’ve treated myself to an eesilk post and a set of wider carbon woodchippers.
So is anybody else treating themselves?

I think I've been a reasonably good lad as Dee offered to buy me a grands worth of bandsaw but I declined ... probably kick myself in a few months.

Nope ,wife decided I was worth a new bag this year , which I am chuffed with ,but now it's back to putting wife and kids first(I'd have thought at 22 for my eldest that I would have got out of that frame of mind but it looks like I'm stuck with it until grand kids turn up then I them first cycle of life me thinks)

My wife is rubbish at holding out until Christmas, so presented me yesterday with a canvas print of a photo I took on The Whole Enchilada in Moab. Happy memories, I’d love to go back.

God I’d love a bandsaw! Sadly no room in the current basement. But I can dream.

Not normally one to bother but thought I would treat myself so entry to a an easy taster triathlon in March booked for myself.

Could be fun considering I can hardly walk up the stairs without feeling out of breath.

I bet it's like the one I did woodwork O level on. Huge great pedestal thing that helped me make a chess board.

Felt like I needed the gift of life so treated myself to a new clip on rear light for the courier bag to try and keep the WTF factor up on the commute.
Handed it to the missus to wrap up, maybe put one of the kids names on it. The spirit of Christmas right there.

God I’d love a bandsaw!
On the subject of manly machines, I've been coveting an hydraulic log splitter for the olive wood we burn on our fire. Having sprained my wrist when my 2kg maul twisted on a difficult piece, not sure if I can justify it as the fire is only used for about 10 weeks a year. We've got at least 50 trees that need serious surgery to get them back producing olives, some are well over 100 years old and according to our neighbour we should just get them out and plant new.
My son's partner is a wood carver and goes mad when she sees our log pile made up of beautiful olive wood.

Shame, I gave one away to my neighbour when we moved. Definitely worth it in conjunction with a decent chainsaw
