U-clips?!

Post by Pyro »

Not strictly a 'Wanted' but thought it might be better in here than the classifieds

I'm trying to get a hold of something like one of Gossamer Gear's replacement U-clips:

But I can't find them in the UK, can't find an equivalent from a UK company, and think shipping from the US might be more than the buckle itself...

Anyone got any ideas?

Not sure what you want it for, but how about a small carabiner clip like the cheapy ones you get at the counter in Go Outdoors etc?

I'd thought of that but it wouldn't quite work. It's to join two already looped & stitched pieces of webbing, replacing a broken swivelly snap hook on a laptop rucksack strap. It's the kind of thing I could bodge with a zip tie, but those clips look like a more elegant solution and would get the webbing to lie flat, which a krab wouldn't. Cheers for the thought though!

Do a quick google for sea to summit repair buckles m, you might find something useful. :-bd

Hmm. Good ideas, again though, they'd bunch the webbing which I'm trying to avoid. Only other thing I can find that fits roughly what I'm thinking it is the Sea-to-Summit replaceable tri-glide, but it's not quite it. I've seen another version of the U-clip on a camera bag somewhere but just can't track them down

How about a shackle? I have a few left over from my days of sailing and they are quite useful.

I'd have thought a longer narrower one would work - like this

Ah ha, superb, thanks techno mail! Shame shipping on them would be 35 Euro...

Cheers Wenchie and Stu, those shackles might well be ideal, I'll have a scout around for the right size.

Not a problem, you weren't to know! Shocked the hell out of me when I got to the checkout, they only offer international shipping via DHL Expedited...
