OS Trail Bike GPS

Post by Clink »

I've posted this on stw, but thought there might be more expertise on here. I'm after something to replace my Garmin etrex. Must run OS 1:50,000, and preferably be easy to use with a clear screen. Has anybody got any experience of the new OS Trail Bike GPS? Expensive but on paper (other than battery) looks ok.

Garmin Oregon (sorry)

Not AA and unknown long-term support puts me off the OS device.

As per my stw post. I am cynical about the long term support for the OS device. I’d always recommend Garmin

Nah, they mean the phone/web app for planning. Probably still easier to pan about the screen on your phone that a GPS on your bars.

Not that I find the app much good. I'm not sure that ongoing support is such a draw for Garmin. It was the updates that seemed to slowly kill off my 810s usefulness while the Dakota just soldiers on.

Ive been looking as well, to replace my Satmap - I liked the screen size but ultimately have not pursued it as its too new and currently not wide spread enough
I got my choice down to the new Satmap or a Garmin etrex touch (but need to do a bit more research)

Always open to suggestions

I can't remember how long I've had my Oregon, 7 or 8 years maybe?

Still keeps soldiering on. I've definitely had my moneys worth
