question for Fargoists

Post by Mariner »

I need to replace the rusty cage screws on a Firestarter fork.
Does anyone know what thread they are?
M4 is my guess but as its American could be UNC or UNF.

As you were its neither its M5.
Just swapped a bottle cage screw with the fork screw and they are the same.
Should have twigged as it came out with a 4mm Allen Key.

I got some black nylon ones - save weight never rust.

If you read the Anything Cage installation instructions on a Firestarter fork it states 'only use the M5 fasteners provided do not use the ones already fitted' or words to that effect which begs the question what are the fasteners fitted there for? My answer is to stop the tapped holes clogging up therefore nylon screws will be fine as I don't hang anything on my fork legs anyway. Was thinking SS ones but look too bright against the Dark Admiralty Grey paint.

Treat yourself to some nice Ti bolts with a black DCL coating, subtle, light ... but not cheap
