I'm 99% certain that car would get stuck in a flat damp field ... especially given the type of people who would buy it on the strength of that advert.

Amused me, but yeah, as good as Quattro is, that thing lacks ground clearance.

The car certainly doesn't interest me, but the environment looks ace.

National Park in Bulgaria according to the YouTube video...

Tyres which I assume will be fitted to the car when someone buys one?

So is it worth feigning a mechanical (cos we lot never actually breakdown, do we...), and stopping at the roadside. With your thumb out. And see how many Audi drivers actually stop and offer assistance...

I found that quite amusing. The whole clip up until the vehicle appears obviously had some real-world input from someone who does actually get out there and with a sense of humour of the stuff that can happen
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Conflicted I am. Did chuckle, but then was dismayed that the underlying message seems to be that ‘only’ a car can save/rescue people, several of them actually, from themselves/the great outdoors. It’s really a damning allegory of everything that’s terrible about the modern world.

Yes, your expensive weapons-grade cockwombling status symbol can help deliver salvation to those less fortunate.

That’s as far from reality as can be, which ever way you look at it.

I must admit to despising car adverts, mainly as they are based on the the lie that cars = freedom.

I hate the majority of advertising. It would be illegal to physically force someone to buy your products but it's ok to use psychology on them. Not in my book it's not. I often despair of the human race. Maybe that's why I like to bikepack.

Well yes, but you can argue the same for even the very capable off roaders that are also nice cars to sit in e.g. Range Rover - they are plush inside and very capable off the road, but in reality they are driven on the road more than anything else so generally come with road biased tyres, stick some BFG ATs on there and it's a different story

Take your point on ground clearance though!! But in reality the rise in 4x4s is as much about size and driving position than traction. For most purposes a 4wd car like a xdrive 3 or 5 series or a quattro A4 or A6 will cover you fine, especially with some winter tyres

Yep another one here on Ian's side of the table. Freedom? Balls. You're stuck with a physical, and worse still psychological, umbilical cord to wherever you leave it. That ain't freedom. And the very definition of futility is driving a turbocharged motor in a traffic jam (ie everywhere). Strange how freedom-restricting traffic jams are caused by everybody else too. Now look what you've done Ian!

Freedom? It's just another word for nothing left to lose.

Alternatively, it's just some people talking.

It sux bigger than a big sock that advert, Audi sux and the rest of em too

We walk and cycle (in the outdoors) to get away from all this, and it’s pollution too.

What sort of message does that plant in the minds of society, and especially children, who will probably think it’s “cool”

IT’S NOT COOL

(I was doing alright till I came across this )

What a lot of pish, almost as bad as that vw add showing the brat getting driven to school and lording it over her mates as if it was a good thing (when everyone knows that people who got driven to school got a slagging in our day)

They should advertise people sitting endless traffic jams, getting f***** up *** **** by dealers when the piece of junk breaks, trying to find a parking space in an inner city, trying to drive the thing when 3 feet of snow lands..........
