Trans Alba - have we done this yet?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

1000 miles through Scotland next summer. I'm assuming from the pictures it's another road based event but could be mistaken.

Looks a bit A-roady including some daft ones - A82 alongside the west side of loch ness instead of the fab b road on the east side. Your also doing a chunk of the snow roads 250 and NC500 driving routes so lots of traffic to contend with in July. Nice bit through Fife though

£235 to enter and they wrote "Lock Ness" in the FAQ so I'm out.

I'd missed that. I probably assumed that with the, below the radar, ITT vibe it was a free or minimal cost affair.

Likewise - what does 235 quid get you??
Makes me think I should plot a 1000 mile road ride, put the GPX out there and let people get on with it....

What does rule 2 mean?

"NO THIRD PARTY SUPPORT, RESUPPLY OR LODGINGS"

Do riders have to start with all their supplies, and not stay in accommodation? Surely the issue is second party support (riders buddies vice independent providers)?

Not clear, but also irrelevant, as I am not paying £235 for a cap, piss bottle and sticker.

For 235 quid on those roads I'd want an escort round :)

£235 would pay for an awful lot of cafe stops on an actual nice ride, never mind a night or two of luxury :-bd

Seems like they're just taking a punt to see if there's interest? A good few of unknowns.

With all that money they can afford a proper proof-reader as well - some terrible punctuation, Capitalisation, and grammer going on

Liking you're stile their Reg
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
