Vittoria tyre choice

Post by Rasta »

I am looking at getting two tyres from Planet x. I have never used Vittoria before but the choice is between the Goma and Gato.
I have UST rims and tubeless. 29er hardtail.

Is TNT compatable with UST. (Tubes no tubes).

As a heavy weight I assume the Goma would be a better choice. Gato better for wet winters.
Anyone tried either?

Both are XC, defo not mud. Gato is slightly more aggressive, I think. If a winter mud tyre is required, I wouldn't bother but go for the Chunky Monkey

I used to use the Gato on my SS winter series xc bike. Great tyres in the goop and no problems with punctures. I thought the Goma were the Trail beefy ones?

Goma AM tyres:

The new Gato tread looks very similar to a Maxxis Beaver.

I'm using the OO Smorgasbord which is a good all rounder (had Vittoria Peyote on but very much a summer tyre) but at the current PX random price lottery I'd stick with the Vittoria's until they come in at a tenner again.

The Planet x prices are a bit daft so I went with the Gomas. At that price I can always try the Gators later.

Cheers for the replies.
