Great weekend of taking my bike for a walk up lots of hills.
Good fun as usual despite looking like a beetroot now.
Hopefully it's not another 10 years until another full weekend of sun.
Thanks Stu, thanks Dee.

Well, what can you say? Wall to wall sun - for 3 whole days, in Wales no less! Nae midges, dry trails, good company when I happened to bump into people, good spread of checkpoints provided lots of fun trails (for me at any rate!). Tea and cake to finish. Thanks again Stu and Dee - top marks all round :-bd

Totally agree - a fantastic weekend as always. Only this year we are checking out sun tan lines rather than wind burn or hail bruises

Thanks Stu & Dee for perfect organisation and gentle coercing to stop us getting soft :-bd

& thanks Mike for getting us to the Sunday night pub - much fun was had & new trails ridden. Hope your final shower at home was in private this time.......

Are they all like that? :-bd

Just got home and have a glass of wine to hand

Various random meeting of other riders for the first two days then everyone seemed to descend on the cafe at Llangadfan this morning - I don't think they knew what had hit them! I'll get my photos uploaded in due course.

Cheers Dee and Stu.

I've learnt a lot about route planning, mainly what passes for a bridleway in Herts is a bit different in Wales. Wifey had her first "wild camp", it was behind the church in Trefeglwys after a few beers in the Red Lion. She said never again when we got back but is now thinking about next year, so clearly type 2 fun for her. Massive thanks for a great weekend.

I too have to add my thanks to Dee & Stu, not just for another excellent long-weekend but also for their time and assistance this afternoon. I am now home safely, the van unloaded and my wondrous tan washed down the plughole
Another mention of thanks to Mike (Norway Calling) for his assistance and supply of gaffer tape on Sunday which allowed me to get safely into Bala where the excellent little bike shop was open and the helpful owner sold his second tyre of the day to a Boner that had split a tyre sidewall!
Good to ride and chat to various people along the way on the trail, in the cafes and in the shops; special mentions to the Eco Café in Bala, the amazingly welcoming shop at Abertridwr and (as mentioned above ^^) the café at Llangadfan who were open at 07.30/08.00ish for a very welcome breakfast this morning.
Thanks again to everyone that makes the WRT just that little bit special :-bd
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

A true classic!

Thank you Stu and Dee.

I think that was my favourite WRT to date and not just because of the weather. New trails, new places to HAB and new views.... Bloody ace!

Even the local farmers were confused by the weather... "It's not normally like this".

Fab.

We can only echo the comments above, a great weekend with mates, bikes and maybe some beer. And sun. And hills. Thanks to Stu and Dee for pulling everything together. Can't believe there was still 4 whole lemon drizzle cakes left over.
The section of Stu's Big Bear route that we followed yielded some of the best riding of the weekend, but beat the crap out us. Happy days!

Thanks Stuart and Dee! :-bd

I enjoyed that, although a feeling a bit burnt today — I'd rather that than trench foot, so I'm not complaining

As always, a Welsh mile's about three times as long as an English one, particularly a Fenland one, so my planned route was over-ambitious. Again

Nice to see everyone, and to keep bumping into loons in the middle of nowhere — in particular, when Kevin C popped his head up out of the trees well after dark in the outer reaches of Coed-y-Brenin, spooky ;)

What Pickers just said, but without the beer!

Fab event, fab organisation, fab cake, and fab but brutal (bit of) big bear route.

Happy days :-bd

More thanks from me, the event was excellent again.

When Wilkyboy showed up about 1030pm I thought it was going to be a get orf my land moment. Hope you found a suitable spot.

Also a thanks to Bob and Kath who stopped for me after my tube exploded near Bala. The tyre wall was ripped and we tried sewing and patches. Luckily when leaving town the bike shop was open and managed to get a new one from the same bloke who sorted psling out.

Got home to find out I have lost my only Strava kom which I was amazed at getting in the first place.

Till next time

Great weekend, thanks to all involved!

I think next time I'm going to bring some emergency cheese and (gluten free) bread from civilization for Dee though, just in case!
