After cocking up the initial lacing I finally built a wheel
It took a while as I forgot to check the dishing as I went along but it’s true to within a millimetre or less. I put a layer of gorilla tape on and a WTB nano 2.1 poped it up tubeless with the floor pump and went for a ride in the lovely sunshine. Well I made a better job than the local bike shop as it lasted the whole ride!
I’m going to start the rear tonight, it’s a very satisfying thing to do, highly recommend. I’m already planning to build another set for road tyres, I could be hooked
It gets easier the more times you build wheels. Like you say, very satisfying and saves shed loads of cash!

Many moons ago a mate built his first pair of wheels and went for a ride. He kept glancing down to admire the shiny new spokes and wondered how the spoke tension was, so he stuck his hand into the front wheel doing around 15mph. One trip to A and E to sort out some mangled fingers, we still take the piss.
