Isle of Arran September advise please

Not for cycling but thinking of a campervan trip there in early September (if the weather is kind in that direction)

What are the midges like on the island and the Mull of Kintyre around that time of the year please?

weather was good both times and the midges had gone.

Take some walking boots as well as your bike. Lots to see and do.

Just Avoid the Glasgow September weekend (usually the first full weekend in the month) as a large amount of people from Glasgow decant to varius Western isles, including Arran and tend to celebrate the fact they have along weekend off work.

The midges were still around here until at least late September, but they were never really too bad. It was our first summer here and we expected the worst, but it never stopped us doing anything. In a campervan you should be fine.

September Weekend is usually around the 3rd weekend in September, around the 21st-25th.
Don't really recognise your description of a large amount of people decanting to the western isles and celebrating as being very accurate either.
