Barkley Marathons.

Post by Richpips »

Has anyone else been following this on twitter.

A race of true genius.

As I type this I understand the 40 are down to 2 possible finishers.

Worth a watch from last year - https://t.co/Ugt7t5SYSS

Self-Transcendence Race tops it for pure mental hell.

3,100 miles on a ~0.5 mile course. 52 days to complete.

But the Barkley is a special thing. I had the luck to meet a finisher at the Tour Divide and spend a few minutes chatting about it.

Watched a YouTube documentary on it last year and I must say

Love the fact the race fee is a couple of $$$ and whatever clothing he is short of for that year

And a race start time that no ones knows about, what a bastard...

Apparently no finishers this year. Got to love an event where even an actual finish is guaranteed :-bd

I know Eoin Keith who was racing this year. Broke his shoulder but completed two laps anyway. He's a hard man, former Spine Race winner amongst a lot of other accomplishments. It's not known as "The race that eats it's young" for nothing...

Wow, I hadn't heard of this, great video. I can't imagine the feeling of missing the finish by 6 seconds :|
