Bikepacker's play list

Post by Borderer »

Ok, this is definitely for fun, not a serious list! Here a three tracks from me for a bikepacker's playlist. Anyone else got any?

No1 = Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Refugee. (Because you don't have to live like a refugee - with apologies to those who do because they are). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7_1R_b4x7Y

No2 = Nirvana - Where did you sleep last night? (in the pines, in the pines, where the sun don't ever shine, I would shiver the whole night through). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaCzydWesVA

No3 = Mussorgsky - Night on a bare mountain (bit of culture, like). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im258Ea5FJA

Good one B.

Er...

"Pushbike Song" by the Mixtures (showing my age, & this was the first record I ever bought which says something about my musical "taste")
"Day Tripper" by the Beatles
"Every Puncture Tells A Story" - Rod Stewart
"Riding On My Bike" - Madness
"Bicycle Race" - Queen (the worst band ever in my expert view..... ;-))
"Bicycle Song" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Saddle Pop" - The Happening Thang
"You've Come A Long Way Baby" - Fat Bike Slim
"Half Way Between The Gutter And The Stars" - a slightly more subtle one by Fat Bike Slim
"Wherever I Lay My Hat That's My Home" - Paul Young
"BB500 Miles" - Proclaimers
"2000 Miles" - Pretenders
"Tussock" - Akira Yamaoka

oh, and of course anything else by "Madness"

But I'll go with my hero Viv Stanshall: "Terry Keeps His Clips On", played on a continuous loop.

It says here that Blur's "Parklife" was originally to be called "Park Tools" until the lawyers got involved.

Of course with enough power on your phone you could extend this to fillums too - Blazing Saddles perhaps?

The list goes on ;-).

"R"

RichardG's 10-hour-long Christmas tunes medley \:d/ that accompanied us on the Chiltern's Winter Bivi was the perfect, but incongruous, accompaniment for sleighing :d the trails around Wendover :-bd.

Without thinking about it too much..

Got to have some Ben Howard, few to chose from but gone for this-

Bon Iver, as much for the vid as the song-

The Lumineers 'Sleeping on Floor' is the right title, but the wrong song. So gone for a bit of Talking Heads

I sent this one to a mate who is really enthusiastic whilst in the pub about going bikepacking, but has backed out of actually going at the last minute several times now... it's more of an anti- bikepacking song

 More than once I've had this stuck in my head having slept "in the pines" (or at least somewhat near them).
