Christmas / present / ideas ... sorry.
I hate to bring this up because I have a deep rooted dislike of Christmas (Dee bought me a chocolate advent calendar yesterday to try and appease me, I also got a pillow shaped like a panda but the dog stole that) but like it or not, it's going to happen and probably sooner than many of us would like. With that in mind, I'd like to ask ... what are you buying your mum? Every year I get stuck for ideas but thankfully a chance remark or idea usually solves the problem.
I promise to write something about bikepacking later. In fact, I might even get chance to finish the latest edition of Bear Bones News

Re: Christmas / present / ideas ... sorry.
Our family sidestepped the issue in an attempt to collectively save money since it was getting silly - no-one buys presents for the adults any more, we just buy stuff for the various children (that still leaves 6 kids to buy presents for)

Ha Mike that's what my dad's getting.
Mostly because he likes coffee but has become allergic to caffiene amongst many things - coeliac - anything made with concrete (he's been a builder all his days) - lactose to an extent.)
He always moaning that the instant decaffeinated mum buys him is bloody awful and has talked about a machine to use decaffeinated beans most of the year...be never actually does it.
Only downside is I'll have to drink decaffeinated when I'm there- but If it's good quality decaffgfn that won't be too bad.

What to give yer family members at "Winterval"? It's like a Gollum riddle: what's the most precious thing you've got access to but which costs nowt.
Time.
Cliche but true. And you're always reminding us yourself Stu - fun doesn't need to cost owt . Gonna get those board games out of the loft and play them with family. Over time have managed to replace most of my old 60s/70s games from when I was a kid - Formula 1, Escape From Colditz, Haunted House, Mousetrap, Risk, Railway Rivals, but still searching for Buccaneer....
Thinking we might give Twister a miss with my 85-year-old parents though this time after what happened last year.
PS. OK then if you insist: http://www.wwf-adopt-a-animal.co.uk/cha ... vm=generic
PPS. Selfishly I'm happy to buy MESELF something though ;-). ..... Bikepacking book...<quiet cough>...

I'd love to see my mum this year - and she's desperate to see the grandkids - but she's on the other side of the planet back north of Brissie. So I'm sending her a photo album of the past year, me and the kids doing stuff. She'll love it
I'm just going outside ...

Re: Christmas / present / ideas ... sorry.
I offered to go home and spend Xmas with my mum. I was told don't be stupid - save your money. Sometimes you just can't argue with logic. So in lieu, we'll most likely do a couple of hours of video call and talk sh!t about the family. Now, where has that piece of coal gone?
