From mountains to monasteries, bikepacking the Himalayas

Post by rufus748 »

A mate sent me this earlier. 23 minutes of stunning photos capturing a 3 week ride in the Himalayas.
The young lad flicking the V's made me laugh. Some great ideas for composition of photos (imo) if not a 3 week trip somewhere a bit different...

Takes great shots to keep the attention that long with only still photographs.

Maybe next year.....

Expected this to be a "So, guys, next year I'm thinking of... who's in?" thread.

Disappointed.

So when are we going Andy?

Bookmarked for future cross-trainer session.

The music choices look good too - I'm a big fan of Of Monsters and Men and The Paper Kites, so interested to hear the rest.

Have a good trip George!

I've made contact with a couple of the riders from the trip, waiting a response to see if there's a gpx, tips on route modifications, logistics etc....

I looked at some of that this lunch time.

Looked kinda ok I suppose. If you're into that sort of thing.

Blimey, I didn't expect to be going, just enjoyed the pictures.
However... I've now made contact with three of the riders from the trip and hope to have the gpx soon.
Best time to go? One of the reports as said October/November. Flights are about £500 return London to Katmandu (if I'd been looking...)

Can 'we' try and avoid the second weekend in Oct? You never know, I might want to go with you.

I see mention of full sussers regarding this...I'm wondering how beat up I'd be on Lois.
If anyone who's been there is reading this, would full rigid be pure insanity? I'd like to have wrists that (somewhat) work after the fact.

Scottie I have an array of full susser, any or all of which are at your disposal mate.

I may have several sets of forks kicking around too...

I guess I'd better watch the film.

I'd be on a rigid, can't see me forking out for a new bicycle. Something I read said big tyres so I'd probably go on 650b+ if I was going.......

Thanks fellas. Remembering my last outing into a rocky playground and how my wrists felt for a few weeks after made me think of this. As long as there aren't f*cking water bars. Grrrrr! Might take you up for a play on a bouncy bike, Nige...just for sh!ts and giggles.
