King Alfreds Way

Post by dlovett »

As it's not being released till later in the year, I present my knock off version of it.

https://ridewithgps.com/trips/44699666

Avebury Stone Circle to Stonehenge 42.6km
Stonehenge to Salisbury 14.2km
Salisbury to Winchester 42km
Winchester to South Down's Way/Ship Wright's Way Junction 41.8km
South Down's Way/Ship Wright's Way Junction to Devil's Punch Bowl 35.6km
Devil's Punch Bowl to Farnham Castle 23.2km
Farnham Castle to Reading 40.7KM

Most of it uses unknown routes like the SDW/SWW/Thames path etc, the Salisbury to Winchester is taken from a rider's gpx. Most of it round the Devils punch Bowl area is from some of my gpx files and the Farnham to Reading bit is purely from maps.

Once I've ridden it in the next couple of weeks, I'll post a more refined route.

Yes, the link gives me a map of the world and no route.

I’ve just plotted something similar - although starting and finishing in Dorking, because that’s where I live.

Interested to see how they compare. I did a variation last year but included more road than I’d intended between Salisbury and home because of time constraints and weather. I also caught a train to start in Reading for the same reasons, so haven’t ridden that bit.
