Does anyone know of a good way to return from Inverness after doing the GGW?
Bus that takes bikes? Cheap taxi with bike?
The road is too dangerous to cycle.
Is there a south of the lochs off road route?
I've hiked and canoed it. Time to ride it. Just the return trip needs sorting.
A few wild swims and maybe take the fly rod.

South Loch Ness Trail would get you to Fort Augustus, not sure after that. Scotroutes is your man.

Hundreds of folk cycle the A82 every year. I'm not aware of collisions involving cyclists. Having said that, it can be pretty unpleasant in parts.
As above, South Loch Ness Trail, combined with NCN74, but that's mostly replicating the GGW once south of Fort Augustus (you can do both sides of Loch Oich though).
Otherwise, Ticket to Ride Bike Hire in Inverness do a taxi. They'll advise on sharing possibilities which can cut the cost substantially.

(I worked there up until the end of last year).
Fire away if you have any other GGW questions.

I could try waving a tenner at any van that passes, then a twenty....
I can ride back but I want to chill on this trip with some swims, camping and fly fishing.

There's the East Highland Way from Fort William to Aviemore

From Aviemore you can continue along either the Speyside Way to Spey Bay or the Dava Way to Forres then on to Inverness via the Moray Coastal Trail or just head straight for Inverness on NCR7 from Aviemore.
I've never done the East Highland Way so I don't know much about it or how much is rideable, etc.

East Highland way goes all the way. There is a slightly muddy / boggy / vague bit between Monessie Farm and the forestry west of Inverlair but otherwise straightforward and surprisingly well way marked

Wade Road to Aviemore, then SSW/EHW (could even stay on the Wade Road all the way to Laggan, which would throw in a bothy option).
