Mull Lochbuie - Carsaig

Post by robbie »

Planning on heading to Mull at the end of the month for a weekend. Looking at the maps there is a dotted line between Lochbuie and Carsaig. Does anyone know if this is rideable? the beech at Carsaig looks a good overnight option? any recomendations while over there?
Cheers.

I've walked along the path west of Carsaig. I say "path", in places we were scrambling over rocks.

Fascinating place if you are into geology, lots of caves, but watch out for the goats if you decide to camp there.

Best avoided then as don't want them chomping on my new tent!

Frayed knot.

Used to be the Longsdale Rd car park but that's charged for now.

Gallanach Rd now has yellow lines I think.

One of the car dealerships has a car parking scheme. Also chargeable but at least you know it's more secure.

If you come up with somewhere I'd be very interested as I have a requirement for the same. I'd come to the conclusion that the campsite might be the best option, especially if I was staying there the night before the early morning ferry.

MacQueens bros in Oban used to do long term car parking and would give you a lift to the ferry terminal if needed so might be worth a call to see if they still are. If not then there’s a few roads that offer free parking and are safe enough to leave vehicles.

Stay in the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll.

I've left mine in a layby for a couple of nights on the Ganavan Road just below the Dunollie castle. Was fine.

Update on this
We left the car at the Atlantis leisure centre beside the playpark. Free parking and was there for 3 days no problems :-bd
Macqueens wanted £30, Hazlebank don't offer it anymore.
