Aero-bars Exposure mount

Post by redefined_cycles »

Problem I had was that the exposure stem mount thats available isn't compatible with the stem bolts as they're tiny. Nor is there decent space to the sides of the bar to fit the band-on mount. Problem had been perplexing me for some time.

So just whilst I had decided to ignore the fact I'd bought an Extralite stem and use my Boardman stem with logo faded off, to grt that retro look. I decided I must do summat. Placed the vars slightly off camber but figured that the 4.3mm on one side and the 5.7mm on the other (1.4mm) only means it's off centre by 0.7mm either side. Or whatever the term is, it's out of dish...

Looks an ok job as the mount is finally wrapping around.

The off centre bars, but only slightly.

Moments earlier the Dremel had been out to play. Don't you just love em...

Bit of shaving here...

Bit of shaving there... Wonder if mount is more at risk of pressure sores now! Maybe I'll email British Cycling

All that's left now (after maybe one more slice of dremel) is some black nail varnish on bars and band. Hopefully I'll not notice that slight off-centre and haven't shaved off too much...
