To be honest, it seems a bit rubbish and am expecting it to flop about all over the place.

Ingredients:

DrJons Strapdeck (available from Wildcat or BackcounrtyScot).

Voile strap in xl.

Revelate drybag (terrapin, already sat doing nothing)

Couple carbon pipes.

Foam Spacers.

Cutting knife and metal ruler.



The Voile strap was too thick for the Strapdeck and would have been for the carbon spacers too. So I shaved em down a bit without much joy. Then had the idea to thin out the sections that needed going through the carbon-tube spacer.

Used some Revelate foam spacers to try ensure the carbon spacers wouldn't dig into the handlebars and end up having an EscapeGoat moment.

2kg total bag weight which is probably a bit much as I doubt it'll be stable. Maybe the tent (Trekkertent stealth with fabric inner) needs coming out. Possibly I could add another strap through the current 2 and stabilise the bag by bringing closer and locking to the headtube!

nice and simple idea it does look as if it'll bounce a bit. Could you restrict it from bouncing by cable tying the voile straps to the top of the forks? i'm visualising a cable tie pulled tight around a voile strap, another around the top of the forks and a third connecting the two

TBH it looks much as I expected. If I was going to take it any further I'd be looking at a lower strap around the fork crown and an upper looping over the stem ( or a very long one doing both).

Or, you know, just buy something made to do the job.

Just been looking at the Acepac harness in Stu-shop. Out of stock. Might just end up getting the Revelate harness

Added a green shorter Voile strap behind the previous ones and around the inside of head tube... Seems to have stabilised it all...

Did you not consider the GFunk option?

Aerobars so the section where the clamp could/would fit is only about 6mm either side of the stem. Rest is that mis-shaped aero stuff. Hence I needed something to go around there that's more malleable, which subsequently led me to the Voile and Whitestone (Bob) on here reminded me of the strapdeck system.

Am hoping to lighten the load on the bars ny reducing pack size/weight and thereby a bit more stability

That makes sense - never considered aerobars
