sleeping bag anti-snag zip thingy

Post by RIP »

First made one of these a while ago and posted it up. It's lasted quite a long time but I caught it on something and it pinged off. So I made a new one and took the opportunity of making it larger - it works even better.

Bit of plakky milk-bottle cut out and superglued to the the zip fastener. As said last time, must be the ultimate cheapo/lightweight/easy MYOG and the satisfaction is way beyond the construction costs  .

Yes yes, I know you don't need one for those lovely quilt jobbies

Yes it does  . I did mis-read "wonky" there at first and thought you were insulting my wonderful MYOG  .

Dunno why manufacturers can't do their jobs properly in the first place though.

Not sure I want my thumb superglued to my sleeping bag  .

But yes fair enough, you're right, although it didn't always seem to work. Must have a faulty thumb.

Holy Thread Resurrection, BatPerson!

Sent the bags away for cleaning and had to take my zip anti-snag things off. Took the opportunity to remake them again.

As regular sufferers will know, Reg believes that any bikepacking accessory can be made from just cable ties and gaffer tape, in the same way that those items are all you need in your toolkit. In best Blue Peter tradition I'll add milk cartons to that list.

So, MkIII version, which includes the new feature of a hole to flip the zip puller through so that it can be used inside or outside:
