I bought an old MOD wool blanket with the idea that it would make a good hammock liner, but it ain't light so I decided to learn how to use my wife's sewing machine and make a poncho.
It's still stupidly heavy, so won't come with me on any cycling bivvies, but I can see it coming into it's own around the campfire on a winter hike. It'll be dark then too so no-one will be able to see me! Or perhaps I can use it if I ever need to dispose of a ring in the fires of Mordor.
My mate commented that it reminded him of this:
Which is a concern...
