Lightweight tool roll

Started making a tool roll to go in the 4.5L Restrap saddlepack. Gotten sick of using my little brown paded postal envelope...

Used my old uniform and this is how far I've got

Image

As you might notice the thread from the spool side (thats the thread that comes from out of the sewing machine from bottom right?) keeps coming out thick and nasty and getting me all tangled up and stressed... using gutterman thread but is anyone able to suggewt how to get arund this problem

Also, if anyone has any decent tool roll blueprints to work from so I can either try again myself or ask Stu for a quote for making me one...

It'll be taking

Lightweight thin topeak road pump
Gorillagrip allen key set
Various puncture repair stuff as well as my chain breaker tool from ParkTool
Small compact inner tube (road)
Couple of cables packed into a waterproof packet as well as another waterproof packet that might save someones phone one day in a downpour

Trying to make it as light and compact as poss ans happy to exclude the pump from the roll

Thanks in advance :-bd

That's caused by incorrect thread tension.
There's a dial on the seeing machine, to adjust this - you'll have to do several iterations of...

Twiddle tension knob
Do a test run, on a spare but of fabric
If worse than before, twiddle back the other way, and repeat the test
If better than before twiddle some more, and repeat the test.
If perfect, then start making version #1 of your item
Install version #27 of your item on your bike

Stu is meant to be a dab hand at all sorts of making of things (pardon the french and grammar... Sorry Queen is you reading). So asked him to makes me a little packet or whatever that can hold in my bike tools and I can stuff inside my Restrap saddlepack... Am confident its gonna be a game changer (or 'a blinder')

If its any help, in use here it is...

For reference the little bag on the left contains 2 DuraAce spokeKeys, a nipple adaptor, usb grommet to convert micro USB to USB-C, needle and silk thread, 20cm usb cable, 5 links of chain along with 2 qyick release chain rivets (well one pair), some Yorkshire air...

Not sure about the use of cuben for longevity but time will tel and seems cool enough. My beief was light and small as 2 fists full. I got small as 1 fist full and it does my job bob on :-bd (thanks again Stu)

Doubtful Craig given the price of Cuben now. This was just a spare piece of 50g/m I had knocking about. I'll have a look and see if there's enough left to do you one.

Much appreciated Stu, although I’ve no idea when I’ll be next up in your ‘hood, with the current situation.
Could be worse, I could have booked flights for two cycling events in Europe in May... Doh!

Just to add... I love mine. Deployed (well moved it from carradice saddlepack to back jersey pocket as needed to carry shopping) it yesterday but one. Fit like a dream and brought a big smiley face on
