Bad back bikepacking! :(

Post by summittoppler »

Here's a film from my bailed trip on Monday.

Turns out its my first taste of sciatica! Not nice at all, been in agony ever since. On 'proper' meds now though. Anyone else experienced this? It came on so suddenly. Can I go back to 'normal'?

I haven't suffered from it, but a neighbour was cured from it, his chiropractor told him not to put his wallet in his back pocket. he was driving 2 hr to London then back..
consider what you're sitting (or sleeping) on, pressing on your back. Eg chairs back pack. general Interference with your circulation, nerve aggrivation etc..... and diet & hydration...
good luck with it..
I hope you think you know, what I might of exactly meant.
Warning - may contain value odded typos & ither mythspellings..

Go see a physio as they will / should be able to ID what the problem is and give you some specific exercises. The NHS just tend to send you away with naproxen which can get you out of a hole but strengthening and stretching are required to make you back more cycling proof. Long term do Yoga or pilates

Thanks, yeah naproxen is on the menu!
I feel much better today, no way near biking yet as only just started to walk a little! I'll be looking into physio for sure, I'm not going through this again

This sucks Jeff...I've had a bad back that put me off work for a few days, then back to normal. Maybe nowhere near as bad as yours though.

Loved you still filmed mate, trooper.

How we feeling now?

Thanks Al. I've been on prescription meds the last couple of days and they've made such a difference. I can now put my own socks on! It wasn't pleasant tbh, not nice at all. So glad I was sensible about it and decided to come down off the hill, I expect if I hadn't would have resulted in an embarrassing phone call to MR!

Oh my.

Well, it's good you're on the way back to normality now.

Keep your feet up and the tea input high!
