Cumbria Overnighter

Post by Escape Goat »

With less than a week since the last trip in the lakes, I headed back up again with a view to staying lower than last time...due to me not wanting to chance mountain weather again just yet.

Weather started out rather nice, was just under just warm enough then it rained a little.

Tarn Hows. Busy, but nice.

Always appear to end up on this road

Least the rain wasn't as cold this time

I found a big hole

Then I found another big hole

This was nice, just to sit down, take a picture, put the phone away, then relax.

The more I watch them, the more I'm struggling with the thought of roast dinners.

Pitched up and ready for a relaxing night...yeah right. Just such an annoying sound!

Nice watering hole and bench set up from the 1800s

Took the van for a spin up and down The Struggle. No idea why it's called that really, seamed ok heading up, I did have to drop to second gear, but least I left the granny gear alone....was a bit hot in the cab I guess...

Had a great time despite needing to sleep in the back of the van for an hour on the way home at a service station.

Hi Allen

Nice to meet you on your last trip with Barry above Coniston (I was on the Stooge).

I got a good spot and views half a mile from where we met and had a good night. Hope you made Walna ok!

Epic pics above and weather looked more challenging.

Hey dude!

It was a pleasure chatting with you! Glad you found a great spot. There's quite a few decent spots around!

That Stooge is ace!

We bailed on Walna... My freehub body went in Wastwater, meaning two hikeabikes and a tow from Barry with an inner tube and a 45 quid taxi ride back to get the van...

Hope to bump into you again :)

Thank you :)

It's just nice to be out again, isn't it?

Think I've crammed in 4 trips out in the last 4 weeks!

Great stuff, I haven't been cycling down that end of the Lakes for years.

It's lovely, it may be worth having a wee trip out there this weekend for you. Still doesn't appear that busy.
