Had a great trip to the Isle of Purbeck over the weekend, some gorgeous landscapes . We found a lovely bivvy spot nestled amongst some gorse bushes, fell asleep under the stars and woken by the sounds of gulls.
Before we got to the bivvy spot we had a few beers at the Star and Compass, on the way to our home for the night my mates crank fell off, not a problem, soon fixed. Five minutes later it happened again. He fixed it again only to realise he'd made a critical error when he tried to start pedalling. Evidently the beer and cider was stronger than expected! Or it could have been the frequent stops and sips from the hip flask.
Twas lots of fun and was pleasantly surprised that my Vagabond was able to handle everything, although my front deraileur wasn't shifting properly so my chain sounded like an angry purring cat. I'm keen to get wider flared drop bars, some of the downhill descents were a bit nerve wracking.
Learnt a lot, laughed a lot and pushed a bit. Can't wait to get out again, it's great this bikepacking lark.

Fantastic - that's one of those situations where you're so pissed you concentrate really hard on the job in hand and set off again 100% convinced you've sorted it, only to be abruptly halted again by that sort of calamity. I'd have rolled on the floor with tears in my eyes there!

I did for a long time, and the following day. Karma had it's way and kicked me back when I cycled through a whole load of wet cow muck and spent ten minutes dragging my bike through tall grass to clean it off. It was a much needed trip full of laughter following a quite stressful period at work.

That's a whole load of mess. Ours was easily fixed, thankfully.Zippy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:39 am Bwahahahahahaha!
