Bivvy a month 2019
A day earlier than last year - I must be keen. Here we go BaM 2019.
1/ At least one night out during every calendar month ... feel free to start any month you like, just as long as you tot up 12 consecutive months,
2/ A single trip taking in both the last night of one month and the first of the next, will count as two months if you wish.
3/ No paid for accommodation inc' campsites or hostels.
4/ A bike must be involved - it's bikepacking, the clue's in the name ... 'Involved'? You really don't need me to spell it out do you?
5/ Your own garden doesn't count, although next doors does ... if you must.
6/ Post each trip here in as much detail as you like, pictures are good. One post for each month please ... if you'd prefer not to post, that's fine. We'll take you at your word.
Anyone completing BAM next year by the guidelines outlined above will be eligible for a special momento to mark their 'achievement'.
Obviously, you're entirely free to do things your own way and ignore the above.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
Just to clarify point 1/.
Assuming I make it through to October next year I can count it as done (already having November & December ‘18 in the bag)?

Give the dirt a little room.

That is correct. 12 months straight regardless of when to when.Assuming I make it through to October next year I can count it as done (already having November & December ‘18 in the bag)?

Well that'll be good news for MaM then cos he'll only have to do Jan & Feb 2019 to claim 2019, having only missed Feb 2018!

Nah reg missed Jan - bereavement (bloody inconsiderate old @#£@#££@##£) and march in hospital for a week with mastoiditis and wifey confined me to bed (not in the way I'd like) so I have to do Jan and march and obviously Feb again ,then it's time for my first BBB badgeRIP wrote:Well that'll be good news for MaM then cos he'll only have to do Jan & Feb 2019 to claim 2019, having only missed Feb 2018!

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
Ah that was it, sorry! Anyroad, point being of course though the 'any 12 in a row' in theory means one could 'finish' 2019 in Jan if you'd started in Feb 2018...
Whatever, it's just a blinkin' bike ride with some bags lashed on .

I think I'll try again though I failed miserably last year after May due to some health issues
Re: Bivvy a month 2019
Going for it this year! First attempt
New to the Lewes/Brighton area. So probably gonna be asking for loads of bivvy spots nearby

Good luck! Remember though that half(?) the fun(?) can be just arriving somewhere with no pre-determined bivi spot - if someone else chose it it's not quite so satisfying. Go with those instincts . (and probably a little tipple of whatever you fancy )

Yup, I'm in.
Likely to be super-local midweek Beds-Bucks borders affairs, but we all have to start somewhere.
I suspect a reciprocal visit to Reg's back garden may even be on the cards.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
Have you SEEN my back garden lately!? . Reckon I'll need a cheap n cheerful superlocal Feb episode after the excesses(?) of WE so would be good to see u Pete. Uh-oh. That'll be the anniversary of the infamous you/BDS/Pickers/me Towcester caper . Maybe we could do a re-union re-enactment here . If it's a weekday mebbes MaM could be invited to see our manor if his shifts match? And the Chilterns Chaps?

Hi everyone
I have just joined the forums, and would like to get stuck into this challenge. As I am spoilt for choice down here in the sunny South West so it'll be easy

Out of all of mine this year including the winter Bivi the hardest was the one local to me ,I found it really hard to drag myself out of the house at 8 at night ,all the others were all day afairs so I hadn't got comfortable before I left the house

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
Started a 2019 BaM off early with a trip to White Laggan with my mate Chris & Stu Cowp. Was cold but the clear night made for an amazing planetarium. Bothy was, & had been busy for days, but it meant that it was well toasty inside both rooms. A great trip

Is it bad form to post a BAM live? I’ve currently lucked out after finding an abandoned campsite near Lanner - Cornwall. This post come from my bivy bag on a nice wooden roofed porch.

1/12
A chilly night under a massive, dense Christmas tree in the local woods.
Toasty warm in Buffalo bag and down clothing.
Home now, with a cuppa
Poor quality photo to follow, at some point.

Hmmmm....
Not 100% convinced
The scenery does help though. Having said that, I have not managed to string more than 6 months in a row to date. 2019 - Must try harder...

Live bivis - absolutely. Have done a couple, including last September's chickenshed caper. Lends a certain immediacy to the proceedings, and we can all suffer along with you . No doubt there's a way for us to view live video but that might be a step too far.....
