Re: WRT entry open
Excuse my stupidity and ignorance but what is the actual start location other than South Wales and is it at all possible to get there or nearby by train? Would love to be able to meet up with people and can wangle a week away but logistics are ever so slightly tedious from up here.(Shetland). Fly t...

Re: SPOT Tracker Renewal Fees - Being Gouged?
Does inReach work with Trackleaders? I looked on the Trackleaders website but it seems to be only SPOT? If I was being a cynical I would think that SPOT charge so much as you have to use their tracker to enter an event which uses Trackleaders? Hopefully not the case as the option to suspend the use...

How much does an InReach cost to buy? retail is £450. with various discount codes and quidco cashback i paid ~£375 there is an annual subscription of £25 (i think it's £25) then pay per month cheapest "unlimited tracking" is £38 per month not cheap. but proven to be very reliable. two-way...

Track to Lluest Cwmbach bothy
Looking on Bing maps and Google maps aerial photography can't see anything obvious.....
Is there a track from a road to Lluest Cwmbach bothy?
Seem to be a few tracks in the area; however, none seem to join up.

On bike, having an inReach is it nice to be able to see the screen.
thinking should carry on me in case of a crash and becoming separated from bike; perhaps over thinking things

Re: Fixing garmin 800s
How are you finding the Garmin 1030 from a bikepacking perspective?
Have a Garmin 1000, find the user interface “clunky” and outdated, the phone connection flaky, and the battery life too short.
The external power of the 1030 was interesting, shame no cable so can use a third party pack.

Re: Saving weight (and money?)
I make that either 2.3kg or 2.6kg depending on whether you take both powerbank batteries. For reference my UK winter bivy kit (bivy bag 500g, sleeping bag 465g, quilt 365g, sleeping mat 435g) comes to 1765g, add 500g for 1 person tarp, poles and pegs Most of that will be common to many. A p...

Re: Saving weight (and money?)
Slightly off topic, Bob, what shoes did you wear on the HT550? I assume you use SPD looking at the pedals. I think my normal shoes might not be suited the amount of pushing/ground conditions. Back on topic. The dynamo v's battery does depend on the time of year and amount of time you plan to ride i...

.....you don't have to take everything you own. Knowing what you can do with lesser amounts is always going to be lighter, less bulky.
