Put the Camino in winter mode. 650b back on, mudguards on, new Ritchey Corralitos handlebar, fresh tape, and a nice rear mud flap!

Re: Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

On the Unit i've swapped mainly between two rigid forks (Steel OEM and Carbon), but like a sus fork, they have different a-c lengths and I adjust spacers as necessary. I've recently got a sus fork and will be happy to swap that out as and when. As others have said, it's a simple enough job, and I ha...

Re: What makes the black dashed line - rideable?

Happy to be corrected, but it merely denotes a physical feature (path/track). The description in the linked article sums it up perfectly. It likely exists as a physical feature, but it has no bearing on it's legal status as a right of way, even if there's one nearby or following a similar route. You...

Re: What are you reading now?

Stoner is brilliant, as is Butcher's Crossing by the same author. Really like his style, and he seems to have had a more recent appreciation.

Currently reading Larry McMurtry's Comanche Moon, last of that series i've yet to read. Quite like a decent western, and McMurtry's are pretty good.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I remember seeing a pic of that bike before, and it's a very lovely looking bike. Nothing beats a really good, smooth, practical bike. Fat tyres and racks and 'guards and mtb frames are super practical. I feel much the same about my town/utility bike. It rides well and is super practical and i'm bui...

Finally fitted the Canyon Iridium 120mm dropper (re-branded Brand-X) and ZTTO lever i've had for about 3 years. Don't really need it so much around here, but planning to get further afield, and attack some of the local trails a bit more. Along with the 120mm fork i recently got, the Unit has been tr...

Heartily agree about all the multitude of wrongs with Britain's railways, having had blissful travel in Scandinavia, France, Netherlands, and Germany.

Worth noting if you're travelling this Sunday it's the day after a strike so that'll potentially add more chaos to the mix...

Re: How is it .....

Marketing aside, I do think it looks really nice. I'm not that keen on the Ingrid crankset, but the rear mech is very aesthetically pleasing (the price, not pleasing). 27.2 makes a lot of sense for an XC/endurance bike, to design in a bit of flex comfort, and there's plenty of dropper options. Any ...

Just a nice, normal ride. Hour and a bit fitting around work and child commitments, as normal. However, I'm regularly thankful that I can stitch together mixed-terrain local routes that go through beautiful places and terrain, and a great mix of trail types. Below is a long avenue of poplars on a ni...

Re: New tyres Part 2 29ers

Mezcals in 2.35 are a tad undersized (mine were on 29mm rims), so i wouldn't go for them. I've got a 4C compound mezcal 2.6, and it's decent. Good profile on 30mm rim, has been strong, including a recent Snowdonia trip in the p1ssing rain. Sorry, I got mine for £25 just before Covid :o XR2 is a grea...

A 2013 Ragley bigwig frame for a very bargain price on eBay. It's going to be a replacement for a 26er inbred frame as my town bike, so I can use old spare 29er wheels and tyres which I have plenty of. Should build up to a nice utility 29er with the parts I have :-bd

Brake pads and Hutchinson Tundra's in 700x40 size. Tyres look like they'll come up big, and tread is decent. Bit of a last role of the gravel bike dice (possibly), to put mid size tyres in 700c that will be fit and forget, leave plenty of clearance for mud and mudguards, do well in most conditions o...
