Re: Expectation, realisation and other stuff.

It's all a mindset thing. If you start an event thinking "if such and such happens I'm bailing" then you are more likely to spend the event looking for it to happen. If you can start an event thinking the "This is it for the next 24/36/48/72 hours, a bit of discomfort and soon it will...

Re: OT Wood strength question

You don't ever really need a belt and braces, unless you are parachuting. It's only a small area, it's a static(ish) weight, put a light strip of whatever wood you have lying around underneath as a support, bingo. 6mm will be more than enough, you could probably get away with a piece of that stuff ...

I wouldn't worry about the weight thing too much. They are child trailers, so will have a huge safety margin. I have stood on mine, and I am more that 50kg, Your dog won't be jumping up and down, it will be fine. I would urge you to not use a soft cage, if your dog gets a bit freaked, at 50kg, a so...

And a 100% chance that it will be the last of the bolts you try to undo. Three will come out like a hot knife being pulled from a slab of butter, the last one will be like the sword in the stone.

Good luck

Get a kids one and strip all the fabric off, then attach a dog crate across the top of it with whatever clips work. Then get someone to knock up a cover for it out of an old tent flysheet. Bingo! That is what I did for our Beagle, we did try him in the kids thing with the seats taken out, but he got...

Re: Blue Lake - an end of an era

Oh dear, I feel I may be about to be a bit controversial! It's easy enough to characterise this as 'them' making a mess, and that as lovers of the wilds and the outdoors 'we' would never do that. Sadly though, that is both a bit lazy and just isn't true! I spend a lot of time out and about, most oft...

Re: Long term lights: real world reviews

I have a set of AYUPs, they are excellent. However they lost their UK distributor a number of years ago, so they are not so readily available. Excellent long lasting battery and very lightweight though. They have even managed to last about 10 years! https://ayup-lights.com/index.php?route=common/hom...

Re: Silnylon proofing

You can make a neat reproofing solution with clear silicon sealant you would use in a bathroom or kitchen and some white spirit. Dissolve your sealant with the white spirit and then just paint it on. Try around a 1:10 sealant:spirit solution, shake it up in a jam jar or the like until it is all diss...

Added more to get the mat inside?! Mine is huge, I could have a party in there. OK, slight exaggeration, I can get me, mat and bag inside with loads of room to spare. I'm 6'3 with a large mat and a long bag/quilt I'm the same, I would rather take a bit out of mine, it's brilliant and bombproof, but...

Re: WRT 2019 Story Telling

I came to the WRT with a flexible approach, as I had two stents fitted in my heart on March the 1st. I purposely limited myself to just one OS sheet (215), because I am an idiot once I start, and not in a good way. So my theory of only having one map seemed like a good idea. I did make sure I went t...

Much quicker than yesterday. I am also finding I am not being automatically logged in.

There is also now a 'Not secure' message before the address, which wasn't there before. I don't know too much about this stuff, but is that a security certificate issue or something?

I think it's less regional and more 'tribal'. I ride a mtb, a touring bike, a carbon road bike and a fixie in the city (coz I am such a hipster). Now if I am on road bike, I get little response from mtb'ers, yet when I am mtb'ing the next week the same people who blanked me are now my besties! The s...

I got some similar for a replacement pair on a mountain bike a while ago. They just needed a tiny bit of tightening on a couple of spokes, but absolutely excellent overall. Grab a bargain.

Well, after confidently saying how easy this would be because i live in the Sunny south west, I managed to choose the only Saturday that it has rained this year. Anyway, I said I would do it, so me, the Galaxy and the lad made our way up to Stockhill as we were orienteering there this morning anyway...
